Everyday care
- Vacuum regularly without the beater bar, and never vacuum the fringe.
- Rotate the rug every few months so it wears and fades evenly.
- Use a rug pad to stop slipping and to protect the back.
- Keep it out of strong direct sunlight to protect the colours.
Spills
Act quickly: blot (do not rub) with a clean white cloth, working from the outside in. Use cold water and a mild, wool-safe detergent only if needed, then blot dry.
Deep cleaning
Have handmade rugs professionally cleaned every one to two years. Tufted rugs should never be soaked, as water can damage the backing.
Shedding
New knotted and tufted rugs can shed loose fibres for the first weeks. This is normal and settles with regular vacuuming.
